"I would recommend Learning to Serve to anyone who is seeking to learn more of God's will for their lives. My experience is that God will honour the time you invest in Him."

What is Learning to Serve?

Learning to Serve is a year long discipleship course that aims to help you be an effective Christian in the 21st Century. It is dynamic and outward-looking with an emphasis on being fruitful disciples in the world and servant leaders in mission-oriented churches.

Learning to Serve runs on Tuesday afternoons, from 1 to 6pm, in the Autumn, Spring and Summer terms (30 weeks in total), and so is accessible to people from a wide range of situations. It will provide you with practical training while you give time to serving in your local church. We aim to invest in you in terms of knowledge, practical skills and Christian character.

Who is running it?

Learning to Serve is run by Highfield Church Southampton, Above Bar Church Southampton, and Christ Church Winchester. Learning to Serve is linked to the Evangelical Alliance through the participating churches.

The scheme draws on the expertise and experience of the staff and members of participating churches, organisations such as Damaris and Moorlands College, as well as speakers from the national church scene.

The course leaders are Tim Billington, a local recently retired GP and leader of a church congregation, and Chris Halls, Associate Minister at Highfield Church.

Learning to Serve is an initiative of Highfield Church, Southampton,
Above Bar Church, Southampton, and Christ Church, Winchester.
